16.  Lu Corts – Purple Mountains Majesty

Limit 10

Join Lu in this wonderful "free style" bargello class.  As long as you can sew a 1/4" seam, you can make this spectacular quilt.  Starting with a gorgeous fabric such as a floral or one of those beautiful oriental fabrics now available, you will run off of that in different color directions. Lu's original piece is of a coy fish with lavender and green on a black background.  From that piece, she went in one direction with lavender to dark purple and in the other direction from dark to light green with a couple of "discomfort" pieces thrown in.  They say in the selection of fabrics for bargello, you should be 90% comfortable with your fabrics, 10% will be the spark all truly beautiful quilts have.  As always with Lu, you will enjoy yourself, learn some things and go home with a quilt technique you will use again and again!

17.  Joan Ford - ScrapTherapy® Bloomin’ Steps Quilt
(  75x87 finished size)

After a quick review of ScrapTherapy cutting techniques and tips, we’re going to go crazy using scraps in the small and medium sizes. Follow a theme to select the scraps to use in this quilt or go completely scrap crazy with this cozy comforter! Hundreds of small scrap pieces will disappear into this stunning twin-sized quilt along with a single background fabric for the blocks and inner pieced border. Not enough scraps in your cut-up scrap collection for that luscious scrappy border? Not a problem; alternate border options can be substituted. Learn some of Joan’s favorite piecing techniques as you make block elements, construct blocks, and create borders to build this detailed, but easy-to-assemble, quilt.
